Shopping! Tis the season...

I know it's Christmas and everyone has turned into shopping guru's. So have you ever found something for someone only to keep it for yourself? That happens to me a lot. This year though I am shopping for a new cell phone. It's really a hard decision to make with all the fancy gadgets they have now a days. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need one that can do dishes too...LOL!

Trying something new

Have you ever just wanted to try something new just because you felt like it. Well, someone suggested that I try this new browser called Flock. So far it's pretty cool! I can surf the web and blog about anything in the same browser...now that is pretty neat. And you can add tags too. So give it a try. http://www.flock.com

Inner Beauty

Inner Beauty

A man once noted that beauty is the first present nature gives to women, and the first it takes away. While some are naturally endowed with an outer beauty, real beauty lies within. Outer beauty begins to fade early in life; inner beauty continues to grow.

It is a rare thing to have both, but some have managed it. Esther, for instance, was beautiful outwardly and had the inner beauty that attracted many to her (Esther 2:7, 15, 17). She was one God could use to help save His people.

Discretion, wisdom, moral standards and a pleasant attitude last a lifetime. Lacking these is likened to placing a ring of gold in the snout of a pig (Proverbs 11:22). Inner beauty is more valuable. It does not require the outer equivalent. It stands on its own and lasts a lifetime—wrinkle free!

TO ALL OF US WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70'S and 80'S!!

I received this email the other day from a good friend. So I thought I would share it with you all.

TO ALL OF US WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's, 70'S and 80'S!!

Ø       First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

Ø       They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Ø       Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.

Ø       We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.

Ø       As infants & children, we would rode in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Ø       Riding in the back of a pick-up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

Ø       We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

Ø       We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

Ø       We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY? Because we were always outside playing...that's why!

Ø       We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were O.K.

Ø       We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few

times, we learned to solve the problem.

Ø       We did not have Playstations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no person al computers, no Internet and no chat rooms. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

Ø       We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

Ø       We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

Ø       We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

Ø       We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Ø       Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

Ø       The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good. While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave and lucky their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?

Reconnecting or Mid-Life Crises?

Well in this month of January 2009, we have sworn in our first elected African American President to lead our great country and I have found a new place to surf on the net. Yes, life is good.

Facebook is that a great invention or what? Myspace is great, but you need an armor truck to run down all the ads. You also need a full time trainer to show you what link to click to make your page. Ok, some of us do. I am so glad I have smart kids. I used to be smart, but the older my kids get the dumber I become…I only thought that happened to my parents.

Anyway, get back to why I am on here today. I have a question? Are you really trying to reconnect with old friends or are you having some kind of mid-life crises? See I’m thinking we were all thinking the same thing. I mean I am on Facebook for one day and bam…I started reconnecting with old friends one right after another. I know I am not the only one. All of the ones I have connected with have had the same results. Ok, I admit it has been fun. When I see someone on Facebook that I haven’t seen since I graduated, I remember something funny that happened from the past. Has this happened to you? And the pictures even the old ones are great to see.

Ok, for all of you reading this, think about it. Why did we all of a sudden start reconnecting with old and new friends around the world? I know Facebook has been around for a couple of years. So why now?

Just to let you know, I am doing both, reconnecting to the past while having a mid-life crisis. At least that is what Jeff tells me.

Don’t forget to holler back ya here,

Charlene
